Sacrifice

By

Selena Wolff

I held the knife poised, the flicker of the candle flame shimmering across the exquisitely sharp edge. As the warm scent of a deep summer night whispered gloriously across my skin, I waited in anticipation for the plunge which would bring the gratifying reward to my lips. This moment had been weeks in the planning, and I would not rush it now. Shivering, I inhaled deeply, closing my eyes, memories of the afternoon flooding my mind.

Preparations for the sacrifice had begun early. I followed my routine, showering, dressing, and watching myself in the mirror as I donned the clothes I purchased for just this occasion. Almost absentmindedly, I stepped onto the scales, a slow grin crossing my face as I thought of the deed I was about to perform.
As the afternoon sun dipped behind the Western horizon, my companions arrived, one by one. We eyed each other, smiling wickedly at the secret we all held together. The sacrifice waited in the dark for us on the stone table that had been covered with exotic flowers and crystal glasses. Gathering together, we circled the table and after caressing the smoothness and murmuring our appreciation, someone handed me the long blade. My sacrifice, my honor.

Slowly I lowered the blade and felt it open the thin layer of dark brown skin to the liquid within. The sweet smell that erupted struck us, turning the months of denial into a fevered frenzy that was barely contained. The six of us had been in this together, and now the six of us, looking slim and powerful, were ready to rip and tear into the warm inner recesses of the Death By Chocolate Caramel Pudding Brownies. I slowly lay the knife aside, and as the world receded the six beautiful women transformed into cackling, chocolate covered goddesses, dancing in the moonlight, the essence of pure decadence smeared across their faces.
