EXTRAVAGANT EPISTLE TO MY PURPLE MUM

Nature gave, Mum yielded

Choice divine, three by three

Blessed womb, six of us

Bit by bit, you picked us

One by one, you bathed us

Stage by stage, you clothed us

Phase by phase, you trained us,

Time to time, you cuddled us

Day by day, you prayed for us

Line by line, you linked us

In and out, you held us

Blue strength, purple mum.

Love unflinching, meekness undiluted

Love unwavering, mildness unrelenting,

Love unhesitating, peace unannoying

Love upholding, care unrestrained

Love unrestricted, warmth unguarded.

Love unassuming, calm unwithheld,

Love unquenchable, hope unquestionable.

Hard labour, harsh environment

Dry society, scarce resources

Terrifying voices, horrifying shadows

Scanty home, pale house

Hot hut, unsteady courage

Doubts, fears and worries

Falling sick, never breaking down

Mum taught, still teaching.

The hard straight cane

The moral love, human god

Angelic mum, woman deity

The joy of sacredness.

The picture of discipline

The personified humility

The seal of gentility

The signpost of hospitality

The board of generosity

The page of guidance

The saddle of honour

The mantle of respect,

The sceptre of purity

The safe of parenting

The book of excellence

The horse of submissiveness

The coat of loyalty

The pride of motherhood,

The peace of womanhood

The chariot of charity.

HAPPY MOTHERING SUNDAY MUM
