REPARTEE

The marksman we questioned…

“when shall you ever miss your target?”

He retorted,

“when the gunshots swing back to their shotguns”

The orator, we asked…

“when shall you cease to export eloquent speeches?”

He retorted,

“when the spoken words be unsaid by the tongue of the utterer”

The king, we inquired…

“when shall you relinquish your throne?”

He retorted,

“when the lion trembles at the voice of the antelope”

The soothsayer, we interrogated…

“when shall you ever foresee erroneously?”

He retorted,

“when the infant crawls back into her mother’s womb”

The love birds, we interrogated

“what shall quench your ever blazing love?”

They retorted,

“when the sun radiates drops of waters”

The illusionist, we teased…

“when shall your conjuration forsake you?”

He retorted,

“when the dumb sings to the listening ears of the deaf”

To the atheist, we preached…

“when shall you believe in God?”

He retorted,

“when the sun rises from the west and sets in east”

To time, we appealed…

“when shall you slow down even for a minute?”

It retorted,

“when your heart beat slows down even for a second”

THE THREE IMPRESSIONISTS

Who are Exhibitors?

That which we call they

who matrimonize lines and curves,

conceive shapes and figures

to deliver elegant impressions.

Putting to shame thousands of

words, courtesy of their magical

dexterity in touches.

Who are Vocal chordists?

Those that possess a refinery in

their oesophagus, modifying the

crude tunes, striking the right notes,

raising majors and lowering the

minors, to resonate like Nightingale,

when conveying tones to listeners.

Who are Wordsmiths?

They who craft words for

fun, play with sentences like a

joke, manipulate figures of speech

as they wish, to break the literary

lexicon by creating unprecedented

descriptions in our imaginations and

taking us to a fantasy land; perchance

Utopia!

May your pen continue to flow like lanzu through heart of the city where the bakadushi reigns
