South Sudan President names new unity government cabinet

The President of the Republic of South Sudan Lt General President Salva Kiir Mayardit last week issued a presidential decree appointing the transitional government of national unity ministers, according to the peace agreement signed by the warring parties.

In the Republican decree, thirty ministers were announced:

2 Minister of Defense, Koul Manyang Juk

3 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deng Alor Koul

4 Minister of Interior, Lt General Alfred Lado Gore

5 Minister of Justice and Consideration, Paulino Wanawela

6 Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Peter Bashir Bendi

7 Minister of Information Broadcasting and Postal Service, Michael Makuai Lueth

8 Minister for Federal Affairs, Richard K Mula

9 Minister in the Office of the President, Mayiik Ayii

10 Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Deng Athori

11 Minister of Petroleum, Dak Duop Bichiok

12 Minister of Mining, Taban Deng Gai

13 Minister of Health, Dr Riek Gai Kok

14 Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Lam Akol

15 Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hussian Mar

16 Minister of Higher Education, Peter Adwok Nyaba

17 Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, James Janda Duku

28 Minister of General Education, Deng Deng Hoc

29 Minister of Energy and Dams, Dhieu Mathouk

30 Minister in the Office of President for National Security, Maboto Manur

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLM-IO), the former rebel movement, has ten ministers, while the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in government has sixteen ministers. Other political parties have four ministers.

The cabinet is expected to take oaths of office this week.
