Following his earlier announcement regarding the appointment of a Transitional National Unity government cabinet, South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a further decree appointing ten Advisors.

The Advisors are as follows:

1 Nhail Deng Nhail, Senior Advisor for the Presidential Envoy

2 Laurance Korbandy, Advisor on Legal Affairs

3 Tut kew Gatluak, Advisor on Security

4 Daniel Awet Akot, Advisor on Military Affairs

5 Clement Wani Konga, Advisor for Special Affairs

6 Tahir Bior, Advisor on Religious Affairs

7 Aggrey Tissa Saboni, Economic Affairs Advisor

8 For Deng Mawien, Advisor for Decentralization and Intergovernmental Linkages

9 John Gai Yoh, Advisor on Educational Affairs

10 Ann Itto, Advisor on Agriculture and Food Security

John Gai and Aggrey Tissa were Education and Finance respectively.

For their part, Clement Wani was the former elected Governor of Central Equatoria state and Anni Itto the former Deputy Secretary General for the SPLM party at the National Secretariat in Juba before the crisis.

Tut kew Gatluak is the only Advisor who retained his post.

Nhail Deng Nhail was the chief negotiator for the SPLM in Juba during the peace talks between SPLM IO and SPLM Juba.

All the appointed Advisors are on president Salva Kiir Mayardit’s side.

According to the agreement signed last year, civil servants and Ambassadors who worked for the government before the crisis will just be reinstated to their previous positions.
