Brexit: Tears before bedtime again for the Opposition

MP Tulip Siddiq has resigned from Labour’s Front Bench over Article 50 which Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Opposition, has instructed his Party to support in Parliament with their vote.

If he did otherwise then it would be tantamount to going against the majority vote of the people who want the UK to leave Europe and pdq.

This does not mean that debates concerning everything from A-Z about Article 50 cannot be discussed purely because The Supreme Court Judges upheld that only Parliament can approve Brexit to be triggered and Mrs May cannot now expedite herself as she wished.

This is reminiscent of English Civil War history with the circularity of a ‘chicken and egg’ situation.

I cannot recall all these issues as we joined and went through deeper agreements with the EU, partly due, no doubt, to Mrs Thatcher’s many talents. We did not vote in these ways then, as far as I can recall, yet we have to rely on multiple votes to leave.

After the Civil War had been won by Cromwell’s Army Parliament was authorised to proceed to represent the people via their elected MPs. Cromwell trusted in this and subsequently heard and saw for himself how some unscrupulous MPs were trying to circumvent standing for re-election whilst giving themselves pay increases, which caused unrest amongst the people who had fought and won the Civil War.

According to what I am led to believe, Cromwell marched into Parliament virtually pastiching the action that The King, Charles I, had taken illegally to raise imposed taxes.

Apparently, Cromwell said he had been forced to do this as an immoveable Parliament was even more obnoxious than an immoveable King.

He went on to rule as Lord Protector and the UK thrived worldwide as a fair and honourable Country. Trade and learning flourished. Cromwell was both admired and revered.

For the record, he refused the title of King and his words on the subject are always represented and summed up by the caption ‘Christ not man is King.’

Parliament in the UK is in such a mess because the voice of the people is being similarly ignored and all that seems to be spoken about are the needs of business people, not the ordinary voter.

One wonders how Britain ever had fighters such as Cromwell, Nelson, Wellington, Florence Nightingale, Edith Cavell, Barnes Wallace, Churchill when currently nothing but embarrassing timidity is audible.

Matters are even more muddied by the fact that since joining Europe a number of generations have been born and they can partly be forgiven for not having lived through our independent years, but they should know their history!

Mrs May is being deliberately thwarted from expediting the will of the majority voters by whimps who are no more than poor losers.

They should be careful what they wish for as this matter is one which may soon be taken to the streets as democracy is being deliberately impeded, and I thought that was illegal.

Mrs May will welcome news of this latest Labour domestic situation and also perhaps the following may cause her to have a wry smile.

I heard it said in Parliament today apparently quoting Nicola Sturgeon some years back that she realised if the UK left Europe then Scotland would have to leave also. The comment was then made, why was it that most immigrants to Scotland end up in England!

Mrs May’s first trade deal with President Trump should be to commission his expertise to enable the restoration of Hadrian’s Wall!
