Brexit – the Movie!

It had to happen – inevitably! Five on Brexit Island – (one book but not the last), then of course, there has to be a Brexit movie.

Check out the photos and see what you think regarding who would best represent the key players in The Brexit Saga (of sorts).

It is ironic that serious creative writers cannot achieve a break like this but a politician can, and an ‘outsider’ at that, some originally said – except I am rephrasing the actual words of others, for politeness you understand.

Having read the book herein, I found it quite an intriguing parody of actual events but was disappointed in the ending, though in contrast, I do believe Mrs May will achieve a great deal for everyone concerning the real Brexit during talks with the EU.

If the movie really is a comedy, I think Carry on Brexit would provide the perfect mode of presentation, especially the plots and counter plots concerning proposed and rejected amendments to the Bill re Article 50, with further twists and turns to prevent it being ‘triggered’. The script almost writes itself along the corridors which separate the two Houses within Parliament.

A spoof profession slowing up the Bill going backwards and forwards, then of course, the real games of ‘ping pong’ here and there – the winning side removes an amendment or it stays in place. Then sabotage is added like dashes of intrigue.

I could just imagine if the late Kenneth Williams had been in the cast, that he would have enjoyed processing carrying the Mace like a regal lollipop man conducting traffic, not to mention wearing black tights – so I won’t.

One can only guess the characterisation chosen for the supporting players to the main actors, though at that point, it wanders more into Spitting Image than a Carry On when thinking about it.

Brexit 2 would be an ideal way of portraying the talks with the EU. Brexit 3 The UK Bites-back. The UK thrives and goes from strength to strength.

Then there could emerge sitcom series and spin-offs therefrom. Who knows, this could be a new genre of films.

Studies from Freud: The Labour Party’s search for its true identity. Celtic Traditions; Referendum 3, 4, 5,6; Until they get it right.

Although it is fun to consider a humorous side to Brexit there is also something most serious and sacred about the real Brexit, as it will affect us all in some way – for the older voter it will represent freedom and Sovereignty regained never to be relinquished again.

For the young, born not knowing life in the UK before the EU, they must not be fearful as the United Kingdom really was also referred to as Great Britain (along with Crown Dependencies, etc) with heroes throughout history in every field of expertise – so the youth of today are the ones who will be the heroes of the future, being proud of the United Kingdom and declaring to the rest of the world that Britain really is Great again and in reality, it always has been, that did not go away as it represents the soul of a Great Collective Nation. Nothing will ever take that away, regardless of what happens next.
