Cruising Blind

I took my first cruise several years

ago with my two sisters – we drank wine

on the balcony of our room and got lost

in the moonlight on the water

I did not look for the remnants of

empty clothes swimming like ghosts

below the darkness – slowly dissolving

in the sea

I did not hear the thousands of

foreign sounding names that are

whispered on prayerful lips for those

that have gone missing

I came to Boston many years ago to write poetry.  Although I never abandoned poetry altogether, life had different plans for me. I have rediscovered the importance of writing and over the last year have been published in a number of Prolific Press journals. Mainly, I write poetry to make my world more panoramic by watching it more closely.
