Donald Trump and immigration seem to go hand-in-hand and his views on the matter have been the source of a great deal of controversy. This infographic from Canadian immigration lawyers Hansen & Company takes you through everything you need to know about each of his policies. Trump has signed three executive orders (EO) relating to immigration and the first two were not controversial. They aimed to put tighter controls on immigration from Mexico and target those who overstay or violate the terms set out in their visa.

It was his third EO which many people referred to as a ‘travel ban’ that caused the most controversy, many people seeing it as a Muslim ban. The original order initially affected permanent legal residents from travelling home to the United States, but this was soon revised to allow those people to gain entry.

A revised version of the travel ban came into effect on June 30, 2017 and anyone from Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Libya, and Sudan will not be able to enter the United States unless they have a ‘bona fide relationship’ with someone in the US. Find out more about Donald Trump and his policies on immigration in the infographic.
