Strongly Denied

Our president is very naïve

In his selective judgment

Of personality

And the ways of reality

That elude him

As accused people

From the Russian government

To Arizona courts

To Alabama campaigns

To the White House staff

Can simply pronounce their innocence

And deny –

Strongly deny –

All accusations

And that is due process enough

For the president

To take a defensive stand

Ready to discount the accusers

As liars

And the allegations

As fake news

While being convinced enough

To give his fullest support

In a doubtless position

With a perspective

Of blind belief…

If all the people

Denying allegations

Would vow loyalty

To the president,

They could receive due process,

And America could empty

Her detention cages

And close

Guantanamo Bay

Author of the books, Buddha Bastinado Blues and The Kill Gene, Ben White thought he was a poet, only to find out he is not a poet at all. He is a witness. What he writes is testimony.
