On the Coincidence of Good Friday and Passover

We Should Have Known

When you promised grand children

for Abraham’s foreskin,

then demanded

the seared flesh of his son,

when you destroyed Sodom

and turned her to salt,

the one with no name,

Abraham’s nephew’s wife,

when you chose the coward and killer,

your darling Moses,

then murdered Egypt’s children

and framed their king,

when you stood silent

as they killed your son,

when they said,

he’s wise and kind,

your shills

who spread like locusts

with beggars’ hands

and syphilis …

Though I know you,

that you hear and care,

why would I trust you,

love or respect you

in this world or the next?

Don Krieger

I have built satellites, worked in the operating room, been in a cult, …

I earn my living as part of a group which is trying to understand and treat head injury.

In my poetry and short blog pieces, I want to express ideas with unambiguous clarity and intensity.

I willingly sacrifice rhyme and meter, art, cleverness, elegance, and beauty for these.
