These Are People You Know

Three figures in the picture,

one very familiar, the two

others less so.

Standing with legs crooked

by a fence that probably

isn’t standing anymore.

I know these people, but

barely and — one more

figure I almost missed.

A grandfather who was then

just a father, tucked in

the corner of the frame.

Word Splash

Words spilling,

splashing, spiking,

a flush of words

Spend them

carefully, line them

up, there are only

so many and then

you must find other

languages,

Is that me, is that

you, being bound

by two or three

letters.
