Freedom Indeed

President … Proclaims Memorial Day … a Day of Prayer for Permanent Peace

We drove to Washington today,

motorcycles in groups,

hundreds at a time,

mostly Harleys and mint new,

chrome work and saddle bags,

engines with that low loud pop,

hardly any flags

but classic fairings with decals,

the few, the proud, …

America first,

love it or leave it,

freedom indeed.

Performance riding jeans,

reflective, abrasion resistant,

antimicrobial, four hundred dollars,

screamin’ eagle tee, fire breather helmet,

hundredth anniversary jacket, distressed

leather chaps, heated gloves, Oakleys,

Harley certified, made in America.

Don Krieger

I have built satellites, worked in the operating room, been in a cult, …

I earn my living as part of a group which is trying to understand and treat head injury.

In my poetry and short blog pieces, I want to express ideas with unambiguous clarity and intensity.

I willingly sacrifice rhyme and meter, art, cleverness, elegance, and beauty for these.
