Condemned by Capitalism

North Korea has great beaches

So the American president

Reaches for real estate stability

In the business world

Of hospitality,

And sees there can be

Hotel jobs to be sure

So North Koreans

Can aspire to clean the rooms

Of those on tour

And build boardwalks

To sell ice cream cones

And T-shirts

To the West –

That’s the best

Any nation can hope for

In the subjugating eyes

Of the United States

While history anticipates

Another revolution

Of a people sold out

For casinos and recreation

Without understanding

A nation

From its Proletariat’s

Point of view.

Author of the books, Buddha Bastinado Blues and The Kill Gene, Ben White thought he was a poet, only to find out he is not a poet at all. He is a witness. What he writes is testimony.
