In the present era, every individual works, either formally or informally, man or woman. Here we will only discuss formal jobs and their work environment. How then does the work environment impact the individual performance, specifically for women? Aside from the job scope itself, one factor that significantly influences how employees feel about the work environment is that a positive work environment makes employees feel good about coming to work, and this provides the motivation to sustain them throughout the day.

“An environment which provides mental satisfaction to the employees and enables them to produce maximum for the organization is considered a healthy work environment.”

Today in practical terms, only a few organizations provide such an environment that many others only claim to. In this materialistic world, every organization, especially within the private sector, wants to attain maximum productivity. They generally focus only on production, the work environment having become their second priority. They stretch working hours, make strict policies, burden their employees with heavy work loads, tight deadlines, no leave, etc, to get maximum profit. These employers totally ignore the kind of strategies that benefit both them and their employees, which ultimately doesn’t provide them with maximum output. If they want to achieve this they should introduce work friendly policies and encourage the work environment.

When employees feel valued, cared and respected, a company will have a far better chance of getting the very best from them. As far as working women are concerned, they are contributing very positively in society by pursuing their ambitions as well as managing their homes. These women need some extra favors for pursuing their career however.

First of all, it’s society’s moral duty to facilitate them at every level. At governmental level, some steps need to be taken such as making policies for working women (as a mother), giving them the facility of day care at offices, and relaxing their working hours (not at the cost of work output). In addition, a ‘pick and drop’ facility should be ensured for all employees, especially working women, if we really want to enable them to contribute positively to society; ignoring fifty percent of society not being a healthy gesture.

A healthy work environment is more essential for women in today’s male dominated society. A woman needs a secure, comfortable and relaxed environment where she can give maximum work output.
