And He Came Bearing, Gifts

And lo and behold

They found the Argos catalogue

Nestled in a manger

The three wise men

Next, Aldi and Lidl

Came bearing gifts

“I have a hand crafted suit for you”

Aldi a fluffy carrot

Lidl German Stollen

The Arc angel

“Snapchat”

Shared a picture

Of the “virgin” Mary

What a scoop

And he grew to spread the word

On the “Sermon on the Mount”

“I bring you great gifts,

Delivered to your door”

“Amen”

“It’s a miracle”

He touched the tablet

And angels dropped

Heavenly gifts to their door

Behind him, they saw themselves

“Look we are in heaven “

He walked amongst them

“Oh holy one, this is a joy to behold,

But my father is very ill, can you heal him?”

“Have you got private insurance?”

David R Mellor

Born 1964, (Liverpool, England) difficult birth, didn’t find my voice until my youth. Years of thinking I was nobody and treated as such. However, hit the paper papering over the scars. Found understanding and belief through words. I have been published and performed widely from the BBC, The Tate, galleries and pubs and everything in between.

My poems are autobiographical, others topical and several my take on life. Hope you enjoy reading as much as I have enjoyed writing. Please feel free to share your thoughts on links below.
