Historic shutdown

Though lives shattered

Employees furloughed

The protests continue

As tensions brew

Though they suffer cramps

Or might lose food stamps

They stand in solidarity and

Struggle with unity

Despite dissent from one and all,

He doesn’t lose fascination of the wall

Continuing his weird call

To proceed and fulfil his goal

Raking up racism and fundamentalism

Ruling with archaic dogmatism

He silences voices with an iron hand

Though Mexicans from either side of the border stand

They never cease and continue protests

And face a severe litmus test

Of their courage and solemnity

And commitment towards humanity
