As the bus took us through the sandy and rocky roads of the Egyptian town of Sheikh Zayed, I started to realize the huge destruction that has hit this part of Sinai. Demolished buildings, destroyed electricity poles and wires hanging on the road were an indication that this has almost become a ghost town. The few people that passed by looked as if they were walking in a dream, or rather a nightmare, and not a reality they have once lived through.

We today reproduce an important article from September 2014 which can be read in line with the events of today
The Islamic Resistance Movement – ‘Hamas‘ the abbreviation from the Arabic – has constituted the democratically elected government of the Palestinian territories since January 2006. It swept to power in that year, winning a majority of seats in the Palestinian parliament, amidst recognition of the failure of the traditional secular nationalist Palestinian parties, in particular the Fatah party which had dominated the Palestinian leadership for decades.
Every year at this time, Palestinians around the world and under occupation “celebrate” or let us say “mourn” what is referred to as “Nakba” or “Catastrophe” and it seems every day is a Nakba for Palestinians under Israeli Occupation and those who lost their homes and position to the Israeli state in 1947-48.
