BREDJING, EASTERN CHAD – 1-8-2003: Sudan and Chad have agreed to disarm militias on both sides of the border in an effort to end fighting that has brought about what aid agencies say is now the world’s worst humanitarian disaster. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled from the Darfur region in western Sudan to Chad in the face of attacks by the government-backed Janjaweed Arab militia.
