Days after she was reported missing, a Japanese woman has been found dead in an apartment in Bangladesh capital Dhaka, police said.

It has been reported that a team of detectives from the Bangladesh police recovered the body of the woman on Tuesday.

Preferred to be unnamed, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) official said that the name of the Japanese woman could not be known immediately.

A few days ago the woman went missing, he said. The woman has been living and working in Bangladesh for about 10 years, police added.

Last month gunmen shot dead a Japanese man in Bangladesh’s northwestern Rangpure district.
