Plumbing the Depths

Trump is offered his very own shithole!

And the name of that toilet is America.

And the name of poor America is mud.

The White House wishes to borrow

a Van Gogh from the Guggenheim.

Instead curator Ms. Nancy Spector

suggests a golden toilet be installed—

for him to do his business? Thousands

of satisfied art lovers can attest to it.

If only Trump had an ear for metaphor.

If only he had a single bone for funny

rather than so many other bones to pick.

If only ironic gestures like Spector’s offer

could polish the gold mirror to let Trump

witness what happens to whatever he

consumes in his big brown House.

Invitation declined. And tomorrow,

likely: Invitation denied as fake news.
