Ugandan Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Ibrahim Abiriga Yusuf has been shot dead. Abiriga was shot dead with his bodyguard Friday evening. He was renowned as the Yellow MP for putting yellow suits and painting his beetle car yellow in show of support to the ruling NRM party where he belonged. The 62 year Abiriga also shot to fame when he admitted to urinating in public last year saying he was diabetic and was subsequently fined 40,000 shillings.

He was shot by unknown armed men near his home in Kirinyabigo Kawanda an outskirt of the capital Kampala. His face and head were smashed with bullets beyond recognition.

Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire has confirmed that Hon. Abiriga, an outspoken admirer of President Museveni, was short with another person.

Uganda police and sister security organs have sealed off the scene of crime in Matuga in Wakiso district.

Oweyesigire says police will be releasing the exact time when the incident took place as investigations take shape.

Presidentr Museveni, in an immediate response on Twitter, stated “I have received news about the senseless killing of Arua Municipality MP, Hon Ibrahim Abiriga, and his bodyguard on the city’s outskirts. I have tasked security agencies to expeditiously find these killers and the nation will be updated soon. May Hon Abiriga’s soul rest in peace.”
