I Must Fight This Corruption

Our reserves are empty

Our resources are gone

Our citizens continue to starve

I must fight this corruption.

Bombings continue

Our places of worship destroyed

Killings continue unreported

I must fight this corruption.

They waste our soldiers’ lives

Gambles with civilians’ lives

And spread fake victory songs

I must fight this corruption.

Foreign investors flee

They shake their heads

At the giant of Africa

I must fight this corruption.

They bribe the masses

With penury pennies

Yet threaten our democracy

I must fight this corruption.

They mobilize useless thugs

Snatch ballot boxes

And walk on tinted glasses

I must fight this corruption.

They spit out hate speech

Stirrup ethnic crises

And stifles our voices

I must fight this corruption.

It’s a few days to election

People can no longer sell nor buy

For fear of violence

I must fight this corruption.

Our schools are shut

Our roads are blocked

Men in uniforms flock our streets

I must fight this corruption.

I am the hope of Nigeria

I have done it before

Give me time to do it again

I must fight this corruption.
