I listened to BBC Radio 4 Analysis and have since learned that there are those who feel the content was unwise as well as unauthorised by the British Public.
Since the results of the Referendum, regardless of how people voted, whether to Leave or Remain, a barrage of ill mannered and ill tempered outbursts and comments has been unleashed.
The losers have thrown their toys out of the pram, the various UK Constituent Countries have thrown their twopenny pieces into the mix, except the English (so far).
Each Political Party had its dissenters and all the Leaders have ‘lost the plot’ according to those I have spoken with.
Mrs May was right to try and get a good deal regarding Brexit with respect to Leaving Europe but she had no remit to make special deals for London/Bankers or car manufacturers.
Voters have been told by people still wet behind the ears that they didn’t understand the vote, though goodness knows the people who are supposedly intellectually challenged, had long enough to ask questions or say they were not sure what they were voting for.
Mr Cameron set things in motion adding the promise he would trigger Article 50 “the next day” if the people voted to leave Europe yet when they did he broke his promise and has left the UK in the worst mess and crisis I can remember.
The Supreme Court hearing on the political challenge that Parliament should have been consulted will probably attract demonstrations both for and against one stance or another.
Today a ‘died in the wool’ UKIP follower said following Mr Farage’s recent diplomatic gaffs that he has come to the conclusion that all the politicians are as bad as each other so it may be that the UKIP vote is sliding away.
Apart from all of the above, as if that isn’t bad enough, there is now a strong resentment that the UK is its own source of ridicule in Europe and the rest of the world.
Having listened to Analysis I tend to agree as the presenter visited a few of the European Countries asking what they thought if Britain wanted to leave Europe but still keep the privileges of the Single Market?
By what authority was that question asked as it did not appear on the ballot papers? The answers were obvious retorts and more polite than English ones would be if the other way around.
A true representation would have been to say that the people of the UK as a majority vote, voted to Leave Europe asap – full stop! If he felt compelled to add anything further the presenter should have said “some are wondering if there may be a way to stay in the Single Market whereas others want out completely.” In my view, the presenter should have just said “what do you think about the UK wanting and voting to leave Europe?” Then again, why produce a programme asking their views in the first place if the UK are going?
The fact of all the complexities existing, which I outlined in the beginning of this article is irrelevant as historically when the UK has voted there was none of this immaturity and manipulation which could cause civil unrest and achieve nothing.
Now we have hysterical never mind historical situations emerging without Mr Cameron being brought before Parliament to account and not one MP, legal advisors or the Speaker stopped Mr Cameron under the guise of non-constitutional actions and promises.
So this adult form of old style school yard gangs and potential fights (with handbags or worse) makes the United Kingdom a laughing stock.
I join with those I have spoken to who think too much of our Great Nation to hold it up to ridicule because of in-fighting over what was, after all, a free and democratic vote.
Thank you if the Media will speak for themselves when referring to a ‘cake and eat it too’ scenario regarding Brexit as Not in my Name do they speak thereof nor was that part of the vote.
