The vice president of Guyana along with a delegation of five ministers paid an official visit to India and signed three MOUs for the share of renewable energy, cultural exchange and solar energy. India would also give 1 million dollars to Guyana for the development of Guyana’s infrastructure.
Mr. Carl B Greenidge, the vice-president of the republic of Guyana in a press conference with the Indian media said, “Energy has constrained Guyana’s development for several decades and with the help of India they now focus on boosting the infrastructure.” Under the agreements, Guyana will enhance the trade and education facility with the help of India.
The subsequent discussions focused on further strengthening India-Guyana bilateral relations, through cooperation in capacity building, promotion of business and trade, enhancement of people to people contact, cooperation on pharmaceuticals, sharing India’s experience in information technology by setting up IT centres of excellence in Georgetown. Also India would help in creating a cricket stadium in Guyana.
