Freedom From Bravery
(A mentally harassed Kashmiri Adolescent Girl)
A Tribute to #asifa, an Eight year old girl who was sexually assaulted for days and murdered in Kashmir
We raise our voice against the proletariat government
A clean clear sky
A valley so high
Showering clouds
Blessing breeze
I was off for school
Back I came
With terror in eyes
They stood on my head
Arguing and interrogating
Insane, bizarre questions
On to which
I resisted
They threw my
Books, bags and packs
My Holy book
Torn into pieces
The ‘code of life’
Was lying dead!
Slowly and gradually
They unfurled the almirah
Took out
Bra, Panty and Pads
My Old Dad stood
Lunatic
They peeled me naked
I shivered
It was so icky
That I was psychotic
They did me nothing
But harassed me mentally
I stood skittish as a bird
The emptous sensuality
I behaved as a tigress
Wanted to
Pelt them with stones
But
They moved away
But carried away
My chastity,
My clear conscious
My guiltiness
Yes, they rape
Me daily
Emotionally,
Gravely,
Unsafely,
Unduly,
And Beastly!!
