How Endings Multiply
Fox, at the end of a long shenanigan, you
are just fox, going about a fox’s affairs as
yourself. Taking care of the business of
survival, ensuring the propagation of your
species. Listen, I release you to the wild
that is your home, beyond fantasy land.
I realize you are real and on your own.
May you be protected from projection,
liberated from confining thought forms.
On your own, you’ll do just fine as long
as we humans don’t interfere with your
livelihood, your livelong neighbourhood.
May you be freed from old mythologies
that call you trickster, demon temptress,
ghost and fraudster. May you run free.
But one last word to thank you as always
for your presence, your feral visitations.
Long may you streak through my dreams.
