Exit Plan
For the second time this week I’ve had to witness
. . . how to say it? People driving cars,
this time in Georgia, breaking one law
followed by another. Threats follow
disobedience. Threats follow
a pleasant invitation to sign here.
And the result . . . how to say it–
of refusal, a faulty exit plan . . .
another professional, highly trained
man goes unemployed.
2:00 a.m.
Of course the parking lot at Walgreen’s
is empty. Conscious decisions.
So many choices.
Don’t tell me what to do.
Stop the car at the closest door.
Shift from Drive to Park,
across three handicap spots.
Don’t tell me what to do.
Step out and drop one foot
after another on the painted wheels,
yellow. Or was it
baby blue?
