Forty five Chinese nationals have been arrested by officials from the Directorate of Citizenship due to their staying illegally in Uganda.
Those arrested were employees of Lee and GAO Limited Traders and investments distributors of Gaming machines.
Benjamin Katana, deputy spokesman of the directorate stated that “They had now arrested more than 350 non Ugandans over illegal stays and that the majority are from Asia, 151 of whom were deported.” He went on to say that “most arrested had visitors’ passes or forged documents.”
“We are recording their statements, if they have no proper documents we shall deported them, having notified the Chinese embassy over their arrests also” he added.
The operation was carried out in the Munyonyo and Ntinda areas of Uganda’s capital Kampala.
