A Tribute to My Alma Mater

Standing as a magnificent citadel of wisdom

thereby clearing the track for an erudite dynasty

My Alma Mater,

proudly bearing the motto,

“Knowledge Values Discipline”

The unique flag fluttering imposingly

spreading my Alma Mater’s noble blessings

to her loving children

A great mother

giving birth to many a glittering personality

and molding the characteristics of the younger generation

The harmonious gathering of devoted teachers

enlightening the minds of blooming buds

like benign gods and goddesses

The shining lantern shedding light upon

the innate abilities of the cream of the society

thus hoisting the flags of success

The golden paradise of endearing and enduring friendships

Oh, how can one forget the magical times

spent amidst the bosom of my Alma Mater?

I salute her,

penning a piece of poetry!

Haiku for My Family

To my mother (Amma):

A fountain of selfless love,

Where did you learn that incredible virtue?

Maybe, it is a motherly secret.

To my father (Thaththa):

It is not with words or kisses,

But with ceaseless drops of sweat pouring down

That you shower your affection.

To my aunt (Naenda):

A surrogate mother,

So endearing a heart, I truly owe you my life

For all the care and hard work.

To my eldest brother (Loku):

You are the inspiration,

A benefactor, guiding us all on the ideal path,

The path that leads to success.

To my elder brother (Suda):

A taciturn and handsome fellow,

Very tough at times, yes, but often supportive

My gratitude for your helping hand.

To my younger brother (Rasi):

You are like a soothing balm,

Always acting smart, intelligent and cooperative

Perhaps, you are the closest.
