An Air hostess with Emirates Airways has committed suicide at Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport.

The lady, identified only as Ellena, a Bulgarian National, jumped from the plane through the emergency exit.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon as Emirates prepared to take off for its return journey to Dubai. Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said the female cabin crew member was rushed to Kisubi hospital in Entebbe but died shortly after arrival.

According to eye witnesses she was holding a glass before she jumped from the Emirates flight EK 730. She crushed her head on the runway and suffered broken limbs. Her motive is still a mystery.

The Public affairs officer at Civil Aviation Authority Vianney Luggya confirmed that the incident happened Wednesday afternoon.
