Don’t Report…Else…
Scribe!
You may have conscience
To inform people
Of the tyrannical rulers
Corrupted bureaucrats
Army excess
Illegal incarceration
Of innocent peoples
Religious fanatics
Implementing blasphemy laws …
But hold on…!
You will be tried for treason
Or murdered for no reason
Or disappear into the invisible mist
Or will be buried under earth’s crust,
Your sincere attempts to reach masses
Educate them with realistic news
Will be of no avail
Fake news will continue to have a smooth sail…
Mobilize people in your endless quest
To uphold journalism and its values best..!
(Jamal Khashoggi a veteran journalist who has been critical of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, disappeared and possibly killed in Saudi consulate)
A small #MeToo in the turbulent ocean
We were silent
When you exploited
Suppressed
Repressed
Us
We were silent
When you trampled
Our rights
Everywhere, every time, anywhere …
With impunity
Fidgeting with our bodies
As if we were dolls
We were silent
For long
And you felt assured
In your cozy minds
That you can have your own way …
We broke the silence
With a small effort
#MeToo!
One by one
Began to come out
And narrate our experiences
Red ants pricked you
And shook your cozy minds!
You created turbulent ocean
We stepped in …
Knowing fully well
That our march is difficult upstream …
But,
Now,
That we moved one step,
Our march has started …
Will move forward relentlessly
Till we achieve the ultimate goal …
Gender justice!!
