Prey

No one knows

if there will still be a tomorrow.

It may not be for me anymore.

With fear I go out

for the prey

– a bread crust,

– peelings.

You said, mama:

do everything, for them to survive.

I know.

I fight, I must fight

– for the present!

It is after all

a prelude to the future!

Light

When close by

the earth shook

and fell silent

the falling stones.

Under the rubble,

in the darkness

erring thoughts

expect only

– the light,

that will point towards

the endeavors

of rebuilding the lost

expanse of life.

Fear

So long I did not see

the sun.

Has it stopped shining?

Or does it shine

– not for us?

Maybe someday

we’ll step back onto the ground?

– Will it hug us with moss?

Will someone put a stone down?

Will it not be found?

Maybe someday

the sun will warm us with its rays?

I’m afraid of death,

I’m afraid of life.

Will something be left?

I have

such small children

and a crying wife.

I still have,

I still have!

Connects us

– hope.
