Nuer tribe hunt cattle thieves in South Sudan

The South Sudanese Gaajiok white army have hunted down the cattle thieves suspected to be Murle youths in Majaak forest in Kewar County.

The white army leader Deng Tong said they were patrolling the forest to block cattle raiders in the area. In clashes, five white army troops from Gaajiok sustained slight wounds but the Murle were defeated. Deng said they ran after the Murle raiders until they disappeared in the bush.

Deng also said that no one was killed from both sides in the clash.

The fighting lasted for thirty minutes, wounded Gaajiok white army later flown to an ICRC hospital in Maiwut county during the week.

Earlier this year Murle raiders attacked the village of Makak Payam of Kewar County at night and took away with thousands of children and cattle.

Some of the children and cattle were rescued in Akobo county by the Lou Nuer white army in January this year.

The Murle people are the most dangerous night attackers known in South Sudan.
