Reprisal

Why does one learn to speak

when you’re not allowed

to say your own opinion

Why does one learn to write

when it’s forbidden to verse

your own thoughts

If you dare to use

the power of words,

trying to unchain

the crowd of puppets

by cutting loose

their strings

of the dictatorial regime,

the reprisal shall be

‘Execution’

Self-Destruction

The ruinous way

mankind

is systematically

polluting

the environment,

slowly annihilating

all living creatures

on this earth,

will at long last

be an act of

self-destruction.

Daginne Aignend

Daginne Aignend is a pseudonym for the Dutch poetess Inge Wesdijk.

She likes hardrock music, photography and fantasy books, and is a vegetarian, spending  a lot of time with her animals.

Daginne started to write English poetry five years ago and posted some of her poems on her Facebook page and on her fun project website www.daginne.com, she’s also the co-editor of Degenerate Literature, a poetry, flash fiction, and arts E-zine.

She has been published in several Poetry Review Magazines, in the bilingual anthology (English/Farsi), ‘Where Are You From?’ and in the Contemporary Poet’s Group anthology ‘Dandelion in a Vase of Roses’.
