Food for Wolves

Her testimony tests us all

a howl with a smile most pleasing.

She is food for wolves, nothing more.

Civic duty done,

the halls of justice grow dark.

Wide awake

we judge how her arrow

has missed its mark.

The pounding resumes, no easing.

Fear, Fire, Fury pace the floor.

We forget to remember

to tidy up

and close the door.
