The Crown, represented by attorney General Thimoté Mukutu of the Congolese army (FARDC), rose this Friday, November 7th to seek the death penalty for participating in a terrorist movement.
Colonel Birocho Nzanzu has been prosecuted for treason, namely participation in the insurrectionary movement ADF-Nalu, by providing ammunition, uniforms and insignia of rank. Birocho has also been accused of providing the necessary assistance to the commando who killed Colonel Mamadou Ndala in January 2014.
The attorney general also added that, in the case of Colonel Mamadou Ndala’s death, knowing that General Lucien Bahuma had been instructed to stay in Eringeti and not leave due to work obligations, Mamadou’s routine would have been well known to Colonel Birocho and ADF rebels, enabling them to easily ambush the late Colonel.
