I AM BEAUTY

By

Cheryl D Faison

I am beauty delicate like the air

The sun has kissed, drenched my hue

I am beauty as I stand before you

It is captive inside my soul

Within my eyes, within my heart

I am beauty from the end until the start

Hold me inside your mind like

A memory of youthful days

I am beauty mature before her age

My eyes, lips, the blush of my cheek

I am beauty for you to see…admire with marvel.

I am beauty wrapped warmly like a silk scarf

Soft and warm as I enter your thoughts

I am the beauty of every innocent girl

I am timeless as the beauty of the world.

THE CANVAS

By

Cheryl D Faison

The canvas of life
is it really blank?
Imagine the color is there
waiting for you to paint.

Tell me dear friend
will you paint narrow or
much broader strokes?

Will your creation be divine
or just please common folk?

With Self as your subject
will you be less obvious
may be more abstract?

Select your colors wisely
toss all caution to the wind.
Create your artwork boldly
fabricate it from within

It is your true impression
a truth you cannot bend

Paint your life beautifully
Paint it without an end

The canvas of your life
on occasion it feels empty
other times it looks blank.
Yet it is a palette full of
color waiting on you to paint.

Wonderful poems, both with a depth of emotion and superbly crafted. What an honor to read such vulnerable beauty.

I was impressed with this powerful paean to what matters when I fist saw it. I'm glad it got acknowledged by showing up in print. Families should live this way - behave as if there were no distractors first, play video games later.
