UNCOMMON FATE- I OWN MY TOMORROW

By

Michael Kweku Kesse Somuah

I loved her with all my heart

But

She thought it was just not enough.

I was humbled to opine,

You can own all the luxuries,

The cars, clubs, precious stones,

Or whatever that gladdens thy heart

But

I’ll own my thought

My voice

and this 40 year old Jacaranda guitar

To sing hope to the voiceless

Cheer delight seasons after sunset

Smile to the younger face

And healthy heart of muse

because

people live

people die

And I’ll make my life count

As a living stream of love and peace

To the thirsty throat of tomorrow.

I loved her with all my sacrifices

But

She blatantly told me,

She has a life to live

That poetry cannot buy.

I was in tears by her echoing tease

because

she least realized my stance to life

And the beauty it ushered

Had we shared the fate of bond.

Today,

Her heart break has been a unifier

because

I have you, the reader

the publisher

and good at heart, making music with my Poems

just to console the ills of my past

to a married future, we all build.

To have a love like that is quite special and rare. I have dreamt of a partner with the kindness, love, understanding, but... Great poem Mufundo "Untitled #1"
